Home cinema shelving unit from Ikea

I wanted to perfect my modest home cinema installation for a while. Up until recently, the projector, BluRay and DVD players, wii and sound system was behind the couch on a cheap shelving unit. The problem with this setup was the height (no one tall could sit in the middle), space (everything was on the 2 top shelves, the rest was unused, blocked by the couch).

After over 8 months of testing, during which I’ve ridden in Arizona in March (for desert’s heat and chilly mornings), in Tyrol in June (hot-wet stormy weather) and in Dublin for my daily commute, I am confident I have wear it enough to give an overview of the gear. Continue reading

Paid apps in Android Market from Ireland (and other countries)

screen-shot-2009-10-13-at-1247471One of the issue early adopters like me are facing when using an Android devices in Ireland is that you can’t access the paid apps in the Market. One could get a sim-card from UK and use it only to buy an app or wait in hope that one day Ireland will be in the list… It might happen when Meteor will have the HTC Hero in its choice of handsets…

Fortunately, there is an option C if you want to be able to reward good developers. Continue reading
